London Speaker Bureau recently hosted a webinar with adventurer and entrepreneur Caspar Craven who bravely sailed around the world with his wife and three young children.
Caspar Craven has 30 years’ experience in building teams to make things happen. Starting as an entrepreneur at the age of 14, he has built and led teams in global corporations, start-up businesses, struggling businesses and high growth businesses. He has built a team on a trophy-winning world racing yacht. However, his toughest challenge by far was building his family team to sail around the world.
Caspar believes in challenging conventional thinking on how leaders and teams become truly effective and create extraordinary results.
In this webinar, Caspar told us of what he learnt on his family’s journey and how challenging conventional wisdom can bring about extraordinary results.
As a successful entrepreneur, later on in his career Caspar Craven had found himself in a rut in terms of his leadership style. He took it upon himself to be introspective and change the way he approached leadership, business and teamwork.
In a short space of time he was able to turn his failing business around and build a solid, happy, motivated team with by utilising the strengths of each employee to improve overall performance.
It was this approach which he instilled when he took on his greatest challenge yet.
Caspar Craven’s webinar tells us of the various trials that he and his young family encountered whilst sailing around the world such as a power outage which meant that he and his wife were forced to hand steer the boat for four days until their next destination, on top of the usual pressures of raising three young children.
But seven years after he and his wife had first hatched their plan to compete in the World’s Toughest Yacht Race, they finished the race in the top third of the fleet.
Watch our highlights reel of the webinar to hear the Caspar Craven’s full story of the amazing highs and agonising lows of his family’s journey; as well as what he learnt during their time at sea.
It is the application of these lessons that Craven now wants to share with others; teaching how to be a truly inspiring leader and team builder, and giving actionable advice on how to achieve amazing results both professionally and personally – changing lives for the better.
