Ed Vaizey

Recent UK Minister for Technology

Ed Vaizey was the UK’s longest-serving Minister for Technology, working for UK Prime Minister David Cameron from 2010-16.

During his time as Minister, Ed oversaw a major expansion in fixed and mobile broadband coverage; helped the UK become a world leader in tech investment, working with companies such as Google and Facebook, as well as supporting the start-up ecosystem. During his time as a Minister, the UK’s creative industries grew three times faster than the economy as a whole.

Ed Vaizey was also the UK’s longest-serving culture minister, holding the post in government from 2010-16. In this role he was responsible amongst other things for the UK’s national museums. During his time in office, he protected free admission to museums; oversaw a radical reform of English Heritage; and published the first White Paper on cultural policy for more than 50 years. He also introduced tax credits to support theatre, museums, and orchestras.

As well as being a Member of Parliament, Ed Vaizey is an adviser at LionTree, the number one TMT M&A boutique in the US and an adviser to several start-ups in the tech sector. He also sits on the advisory board of NEC and is a visiting professor at two UK universities.
