Isabel Aguilera is one of the very few women that have the privilege of being rated by Fortune magazine amongst the top 50 most influential executives in the world. Furthermore, the Wall Street Journal included Isabel amongst its “30 Most Influential Business Women in Europe” in 2001 for her role in leading Dell Computer to the top of the market, with the largest volume of trade results achieved in Spain. Isabel is also considered one of the “Top 25 Senior Managers in Europe” by The Financial Times, and was one of the “100 Most Influential People in Spain” in 2006, according to Spanish newspaper El Mundo.
Isabel Aguilera is the former CEO of Google Iberia and President of GE in Spain and Portugal. She was responsible for the set-up of Google Iberia (Spain and Portugal) from 2006 to 2008, and the creation of NH’s international business model after it purchased hotel chains in Mexico, Germany and Holland (2002-05). She has been CEO and Business Unit Director for Dell in southern Europe and was President of General Electric in Spain and Portugal from 2008 to 2009.
Today her 20 years of experience in marketing and operations serve well to her role as an independent board member of Indra (a leading Spanish IT company), Banco Mare Nostrum (a bank), Aegón España (an insurance company), Oryzon (a biopharmaceutical company) and Egasa (a gaming and entertainment company). She is also Co-Founder and Director of IMAN Business Coaching, a leading Human Resources company and is a board member of the compensation Management Committee of the international university corporation Laureate Education Inc. (NASDAQ).
From 2002 until 2005, in her role as Chief Operating Officer for NH Hotels, Isabel looked after every detail of the company’s 240 hotels in 18 countries. She achieved the integration of all the operational models into one unified NH operational model in record time after the acquisition of Mexican, Dutch and German hotel companies. She designed and executed a savings plan, achieving savings of 38 million euros at the end of 2004 as a result of the synergies attained in the integration. This amount greatly surpassed the original target.
This tireless business maverick is a graduate in Architecture who also holds an MBA by the Instituto de Empresa and a PDG (General Management Programme) by the IESE.
