With over 40 years experience in business, Kelly has built her brand and business from nothing to world-wide success. The Kelly Hoppen brand brings her style to a wide range of home furnishings and products whilst continuing to offer exclusive, bespoke design to commercial clients all over the world.
Kelly speaks about her passion for creativity and design and the challenges of building her brand and business.
Kelly’s passion for design started early and at just 16, she was asked to design the kitchen of a family friend. This modest start grew into a career which would encompass design, products, books and broadcasting. Kelly’s signature style combining clean, minimalist lines, with a warm combination of traditional Eastern and Western styles has been seen in hotels, restaurants, and offices around the world, as well as the homes, private aircraft and yachts of personal clients.
Kelly has written 10 design books and in recent years, her career has expanded into TV. In 2013 she became an investor on BBC Two’s hit show Dragon’s Den, where she invested in several businesses for 2 years, and this year she joined BBC Two’s The Great Interior Design Challenge as a judge on the show.
Kelly is honoured to be the recipient of copious design awards and the proudest point in her career to date came in 2009, when she was made an MBE for her services to interior design. Recognised for the passion of inspiring women in business, she has also just been honoured with WIE (Women: Inspiration & Enterprise) Inspirational Award.
A dedicated supporter of good causes and the championing and nurturing of younger entrepreneurs, Kelly is an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust and sits on their committee. She is also a proud ambassador for the Government’s GREAT campaign, supporter of the Lady Garden and Diana Award and a connector for BAFTA.
