Creating Emotionally Intelligent Workplaces

Inspiring, entertaining and educating, Susan Armstrong has been changing people’s lives for nearly 30 years, starting with her own. In the last 20+ years Susan has spoken in over 40 countries, developed and trained over 500 workshops and helped over 150,000 people around the world transform their personal and professional lives. Her clients include some of the largest companies in the world. She has designed global programs for such clients as Johnson & Johnson, Philip Morris International, GlaxoSmithKline, Philips, SABIC, and many other public and private sector clients. And, she has a secret…

Homelessness, addiction, and abuse at the hands of a notorious motorcycle gang are not what you would expect to find behind a successful Talent Development Expert, but they are the circumstances that taught Susan that we are responsible for creating our own reality.  While your story might be different, the way you feel and the way you behave – all in the name of what you believe to be the truth – are the same.

In recovering from her self-destructive lifestyle, Susan quickly realised that what she had was a “thinking” problem. Everything she believed to be true about herself and how to get along in the world was wrong and she needed to re-wire her thought processes. She embarked on a mission to learn everything she could about how to effectively interact with the world around her. What she didn’t know is that she was developing her emotional intelligence – the secret weapon for success.

It is emotional intelligence that took Susan from the streets to the boardroom, and it is the “red-thread” running through all of Susan’s speaking and training: how to become an effective leader; how to increase your success in sales; how to navigate through change; how to develop resilience, or how to deliver a powerful presentation. Susan is teaching the basics of emotional intelligence. It is what has made her such an in-demand speaker and trainer. Not only are attendees learning the business skills they need, they are also learning some extremely important life skills at the same time.

Susan Armstrong inspires people to look past their own self-limiting beliefs and take action to achieve a level of professional success previously unattainable. Whether you are a leader, individual contributor, or entrepreneur, Susan is a powerful example of what is truly possible if we just set ourselves free of our own faulty thinking and beliefs.

Stop Standing in Your Own Way: Change Your Perception, Change Your Life

You can change your life just by changing the way you view it. We all have our own view of the world, a unique programming that runs in our subconscious directing our thoughts, actions and decisions – everything we think and everything we do. And it’s often this code (that we are completely unaware of) that stands in the way of our happiness and success.

We each have our own views and beliefs about ourselves, the world and what we believe is possible for us in this world. The problem is, we project those beliefs out onto the world and live into them as if they are true. It is how we stand in our own way. We believe our fears and our beliefs, when they may not even be accurate. They may be outdated - or just plain wrong.

Total Intelligence: Developing Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace

Your cognitive abilities are no longer enough to ensure your success in today’s world.
Your intelligence, thinking ability, or your technical skills have meant that you have been successful at your job up until now. But how do you stay relevant for the future? As ‘Artificial Intelligence’ becomes more predominant, what skills do we need to develop to stay ahead and ensure we continue to be marketable in the future?
The skills of the future, of your future, are the ones required for people management, influence, and motivation.

Leadership: It’s an Inside Job

Leading in this VUCA world takes knowledge, skill and emotional intelligence. Leadership starts from within. Whatever is happening inside of you, shows on the outside as well. This potentially impacts (either positively or negatively) employee engagement, motivation, performance, and their ability to embrace change. This workshop will raise your Emotional Intelligence and add $$$ to your income and your bottom line.

Manager Centric: The Silent Condition Killing Organizations

Is your organisation 'Customer-Centric' or 'Manager-Centric'? The silent condition that is killing organizations is not lack of customers, or problems with products or services, it is the undetected condition of being manager-centric instead of customer-centric. And it happens without anyone realizing it. This experiential session is designed for leaders at all levels to begin to understand how a manager-centric culture forms and how you, as leaders, can shift to a customer-centric culture and become more profitable as an organization.

The Art of Leading Through Organisational Transformation

Today innovation is king. If we don’t continue to change and adapt, we won’t be in business very long. It's not really about change – it’s about transformation. A long and often slow transformation takes strong leadership. Transformation is not about the change that needs to happen, it’s about leading the people the changes affect. Typical change management is about three things: what needs to change; how it needs to change; and the people involved in the change – and only one of those is difficult. And only one of those has the power to stop transformative change in its tracks. This session focuses on the process of change, as well as managing ourselves and others through change in a productive way. Even good people have bad feelings when it comes to change. It's all about how we support them through it.

Creating a Culture of Feedback

Feedback is by far one of the most important gifts we can give and receive. Without feedback, we often have no idea how we are progressing. Are we doing well? Do we need to change course? In today’s fast-paced workplace, with the rate of change being what it is, feedback is an immensely important component when it comes to motivating and engaging our employees, as well as developing their skills and abilities. Unfortunately, when it comes to corrective feedback, it’s also one of the things we are most uncomfortable with. Studies have shown that feedback is a critical element in employee engagement, motivation and productivity and yet, it is the one word that will cause our blood pressure to rise. This session will help you learn to give and receive effective feedback thereby creating a culture of healthy feedback.
